Los Courage Camps is an excellent Los Angeles-based foundation that I love working with.

When Samantha reached out to me about making a special award for a remarkable man, and good friend, John Acevedo, I absolutely said yes and knew exactly what I wanted to make for him.

John deserves something unique but natural like him. Something down-to-earth and warm; I also wanted to use the warm brown tone that Los Courage Camps has adopted as its color, and to be a reminder of the organization he has dedicated so much time to helping build.

A beautiful walnut longboard is what popped into my mind—something simple, but elegant, as well as unique. I found the perfect piece at Austin’s Hardwood in Santa Ana. With varnish, it would really pop.

It was an absolute honor watching the community celebrate John and his hard work over the years.
